Stepping out of our comfort zones on a Sunday morning

2nd June 2015

That's how we grow in Christ by stretching our ‘faith muscles’ continuously.

If church becomes boring or predictable it's down to each individual member to "make a difference".  Don’t look or wait for the leaders to do something take part yourself!

Can I exhort and encourage you all to come with a humble heart that seeks to serve the wider body of Christ on a Sunday. Whatever you feel the Holy Spirit impressing on you: whether it's a reading from scripture, a prayer, a picture or prophecy, please bring it.

The principle of the gospel is "death in you, but life in others"*1 - dying to oneself.

Spiritual gifts are given to strengthen, edify, build up and encourage the church.

Scripture is clear "each of you should look not to your own interests, but to the interest of others"!*2 For me, this is my desire whenever I meet with my brothers and sisters in Christ  but especially on a Sunday morning when we gather as a church.

Paul tells us in Corinthians to eagerly desire spiritual gifts, especially prophecy*3, so we can encourage the members of the church. Also when an unbeliever comes on a Sunday he will realise that God is amongst us and will be convicted to turn to Him.

Do you come each week open and prepared to pray or take part?

Perhaps Father is getting your attention and calling you to consider ‘getting out of the boat’, to fix your eyes on Jesus and overcoming nervousness step out in serving Him.

Feel the fear, but do it anyway!!!

Bring your contributions this week, grab a towel and serve.

You don't need permission, "just do it". That's my encouragement and exhortation to each one of you.

If we all have this heart then our Church will never be boring or predictable but alive with the grace and presence of God!
